Porcelain… made of paper? Well, almost!

It happened by accident. Again.
While experimenting with glass paints, I discovered something that genuinely surprised me — if you use white glass paint (I used Idea Vetro, currently around £6–7), it can beautifully imitate ceramics. Seriously – the gloss is stunning, and it really gives that glazed, porcelain-like finish!

Of course, in true me fashion, I didn’t go for a flat surface :P I painted a textured paper pulp coaster, so it took a bit of effort: multiple layers, drying it in different positions. The paint is quite runny, so it naturally flows into the little cavities.

But the result? Surprisingly good! It’s a great option for anyone who wants to create a porcelain look on small objects or details – without a kiln.
I don’t have one – though I adore porcelain, collect plates from my travels, and often catch myself sighing over beautifully glazed ceramics.

But maybe it’s for the best. If I had access to a kiln, I probably wouldn’t have explored paper pulp at all. And then I wouldn’t have stumbled upon this idea.
Not saying I’m a genius — let’s just say a fun little thought decided to visit me :-)

Give it a try – you might be surprised by how shiny paper can get.
